- Michael has been infection prevention and epidemiology roles for eight years and has served in a management role in this field for the past four. He has been involved in these activities in individual hospitals and now works within an 11 hospital system at a 629 bed hospital site designated for quaternary care. He has his BS in Public Health and Life Sciences and has completed his coursework for his MPH in Epidemiology and is board certified. He is a regular guest speaker at colleges and universities throughout his state and has authored coursework for St. Louis University and has helped develop content for for his professional organization (APIC). He has also served as a peer reviewer for various journals and publishers.
Michael has been active in his APIC chapter and has served in as chair or co-chair for their annual conference committee for three years. He has served on the national APIC Emergency Preparedness Committee for two years. He has also served on a number of committees in his state, including Pandemic Ethics and Emerging Pathogen committees.
Michael is also a safety officer on the MN-1 DMAT team. He has served around the country as a controller and evaluator for multiple disaster exercises. He also has been a keynote and conference speaker and guest lecturer for many various state and national conferences and higher educational institutions. He serves as a mentor to graduate students at the University of Minnesota School of Public Health and enjoys fostering a passion for the field in the next generation of leaders.

InfraGard is an information sharing and analysis effort serving the interests and combining the knowledge base of a wide range of members. At its most basic level, InfraGard is a cooperative undertaking between the U.S. Government (led by the FBI) and an association of businesses, academic institutions, state and local law enforcement agencies, and other participants dedicated to increasing the security of United States critical infrastructures.
